Såta

Description

Start on the road until you come to a farm, where you turn left up the ladder along the fence. Take the first ladder on the left. After a few hundred meters you cross a river/stream and follow the path up along it. Turn right at a salt pond on the left. Here the ladder flattens out. At the next crossroad, turn left towards Vesle Såta. Follow small arrow signs further until the ladder turns left towards Såta. You still pass a salt marsh on the way up to the gorge between Vesle Såta and Såta. When you are up in the gorge, turn left up towards the top. The ascent to Såta has no fixed path. It is steep with fairly rocky ground up to the top. Fantastic view when you come up.

Access: Follow Rv 7 about 3 km east from the center of Ål. Turn left towards Bergsjø/Vats and follow Nordbygdvegen (Fv 2930) for approx. 2 km to the signpost Votndalsvegen, on the right. Follow this road to the signpost Skindovegen, also to the right, and follow this to a large postbox stand/information board, approx. 2.7 km from the start of Votndalsvegen. You now enter Åsetnovegen and follow this for almost 5 km, to Lyavegen. After about 4.5 km on Lyavegen, you cross the river Lya. Turn right at the next two road junctions. About 300 m after the last road junction, the road flattens out and you pass a small river/stream. Drive over the bridge and you will reach the car park. Toll road.
