Description

Start the trip on the ladder to the east, in the direction of Leveld. Gradually along a small field and through some forest. After about 250 m you cross the river Votna. From here ran the old road between Søre-Vats and Kvinnegardslia. The path turns to the south-west and follows a ridge that goes steadily up the birch forest. On the trip, you pass an old stølsvoll with a barn and a luta hut. When you reach the top, you get a panoramic view of Reineskarvet and Lauvdalsbrea. Take the same road back.

Thokollen or Tobakken is an old ski jump, which was cleared in 1944-45 and opened on 3 March 1945. Extensive construction work was carried out with the removal of gravel. This was while there was still a ban on gatherings. There were two jumps and Vatsfjorden was used as a plain. The height of the hill is supposedly 52 m. The hill was in use until the late 1960s.

Access: Follow Rv7 approx. 3 km east from the center of Ål. Turn left towards Bergsjø/Vats and follow the Nordbygdvegen (Fv 2930) towards the Bergsjø area for another 14 km to Vatsfjorden. Parking at the eastern end of Vatsfjorden.
