Krysstjern kort intro
Description
A small round up and around Krysstjernet. Marked as red as the path around the pond itself has some crux, and without knowing the lines and having good technique and form there will be some (short) bumps and crux that have to be pushed up.
Takes off from gravel road. The first part of the path is driven with a forest machine, but it is fine to cycle. Transitions to singletrack with minor scree and half crux, some rocks and roots, before it opens towards the end. Then hard left onto old tractor road. Follow this for a bit until it makes a turn and starts climbing. Here the path goes off to the right, and up. In dry weather, this climb is fine. It flattens out and descends towards the idyllic pond.
There are quite a few trails around the pond as it is a popular hiking area. It is mostly just to follow along the water's edge further around. Here there are a number of technical feedings both up and down. About 3/4 of the way around the pond, turn left and follow the path gently upwards. Soon it flattens out, and transitions into a wonderful downhill section with a lot of flow, some small drops that can be rolled, and sections with good speed. Really great cycling!
You end up on a wider path, turn right on this, then right again onto a beautiful and smooth singletrack. This gradually becomes slightly technical with various stones, and tall grass in the summer. At the first opportunity, you should cross the stream on the left (there are some sticks you can walk on). The path continues with a lovely flow on rock and bar needle, opens up a bit wider. Turn right onto the new narrow and smooth singletrack and follow this until you come out onto the tractor road. Here you turn right and follow the path all the way to the parking space at Rokkeveien.
The area has lots of trails, and I have only just begun to explore. If you drive here or have plenty of time (and energy), the round can easily be combined with the Tvetervann round.
Access
Small parking space at the barrier right off Rokkeveien. Follow the dirt road a little inland before the path turns off to the right at a timber yard.
