Description

The Grand Ballon is the highest mountain in the Vosges and slightly higher than its German counterpart, the Belchen. From here you have a great view in all directions. Especially to the south, where the great mountains of Switzerland seem incredibly close.

Leaving the view behind, you get a no less impressive trail experience. At a slight incline you can fly over carpets of leaves before the trail begins to meander and gets rockier. Past the Col de Judenhut it goes back into the forest, the trail gets nice and wavy. In the flow of the roller coaster, don't miss the turn to the right. Here it gets steeper for a short time before you are thrown out on a fast path on a meadow with partly slightly hanging curves. After a rest area, it goes briefly on a cart path, which soon becomes a trail again and at top speed to the Col du Peternit.

Access

From Guebwiller via Murbach the valley behind. At the Col de Judenhut, follow the forest road to the right. This soon becomes Karrenweg, then Trail, and joins the road from the north, which shortly thereafter reaches the pass below the summit.
