Åsen - Åletjern runden
Description
My favorite round in Mjøndalsskauen. Starts with a short section on a dirt road that turns into a good climbing stage on a cycle path. At the top there is a bit more dirt road before a lovely singletrack goes all the way from Dammyrtjern and over Rasaråsen. From here there is a great descent to Åletjern. Continues along the tractor road/path on the north side of the pond and ends with another descent in the direction of Portåsen. Cross the stream and climb over the sheep fence and then roll steeply up onto the tractor road which is part of the Wildenweystien. Continue on the Wildenweystien which goes left at the bench. Further singletrack which ends with a nice descent again towards Åsen. Up the gravel road to Stallmyra and back to the start of the trail. An alternative ending is to keep to the left towards the end and continue all the way down to the golf course, then you get a few extra meters of height with a fun path/carriage road.
Access
Park at Åsen kindergarten/Åsendammen or at Åsen school. Starts at the end of a steep paved hill that looks private but is public and the start of the dirt road. If you park at the school, the path starts on the gravel road on the other side of the artificial turf field.
