Description

If you are going to Gran Canaria on a lift trip, family trip or similar, don't forget your bike! This is a trip that everyone has time for and is completed in just over an hour door to door. In addition, the island has huge areas and nice paths - read the map and go for a walk! Rough bike is a must then...

The path is fast, technical and requires some extra concentration due to a lot of rock and steep sections in places - hence the red grading. But mainly it is a VERY fat flowing path on fast ground, with, as I said, elements of stony and loose ground - just the way it should be :)

The trail starts at the top of the small peak after the goat farm and this small start is technical, loose but fast enough to spit you out onto the gravel surface below you, where you have to look for a small rock on the cyclist's left of the road marked with white paint "ARG ..". This marks the start of the trail, and from here it's just a matter of feeding on. The first part goes close to the goat farm on its left, and is slightly variable up and down. Step and work with the seat post, then you will flow. When the first part is over, the path takes you up onto the ridge itself that leads down to the town. This is where the really big smile comes out. Don't expect the great nature experience as you will eventually get the GC-1 motorway far down there on your right, but it is like cycling in a spaghetti western (tough cowboy terrain).

After 3/4 of the cycling, you cross the motorway over a bridge and the path just continues on new ridges. Aim for your hotel and a cold lager in the bar!

Access

I started the logging where asphalt turns to gravel on the edge of Arguineguin to show you the start of the climb. The climb takes place on gravel and is done in a sweep. The reason for the longer track inwards was that I cycled a bit to see more of the possibilities in the surrounding terrain. So you can stop and turn the bike around on Sukkertoppen. This peak is a small cairn knoll that lies close to the road, and is at the point where my track makes a sharp left-right turn and merges. After you have cycled past the goat farm and down a small hill, you will see the top a couple of hundred meters in front of you.

Knut Holm Andersen rated Gromsti i Arguineguin epic. 9.feb.2024
