Tur fra Eiksetra over Skimten, ned til Tverken og tilbake via Goliaten

Lier, Viken, Norway
19km|386m ◢ ◣ 388m|19.07.2020

Description

The first three kilometers up to Eiksetra are on the ski track, which in summer stays fairly level with the tractor road, after the Pølsesvingen you go downhill over Martinsløkka and follow the gravel road past Eiksetra. After the first barrier after Eiksetra, take the ski track to the left which gradually gets steeper and sometimes very steep. Well-trained cyclists all the way up to Skimten, but most will probably have to get off the bike and ride a couple of times. Slightly rough and stony path all the way to Tverken and on to Goliaten.

In the area around Goliaten and towards Eiksetra, there are in places nice areas with rocky cliffs and beautiful flow paths, but also a couple of steep segments and a bit of a knot with bearing.

A full shock absorber is recommended and solid tires are necessary, preferably slightly wide tires. A couple of short sections where most people will carry or wheel the bike.

Great view from Skimten and the area around Goliaten is solid. Feel free to stop here for a break or a dip.

Goliaten is a DNT cabin with 8 beds for those who want to spend the night under roof, but it is fine to have accommodation outside as well.

A total of 20km and 500hm. I used 1500kcal and 2.5 hours and am moderately trained, about +-20 minutes depending on form and skills

The GPS file has a couple of bugs because I rode a bit wrong a couple of times,

at Tverken sports chapel - hold on the underside of the chapel

after that follow the signs to Goliaten while following the GPS

Access

Drive Vestsideveien to Eikseterveien and follow signs to Eikstra at Eikseterveien. After 2km with a steep hill, it is good to park after Kleivdammen and before where you have to pay the toll, if possible use the free parking on the right after the bridge.
