Description

Tour from Vasstulan and down to Udval, starts at Vasstulan and goes on a red-marked path. Lots of nice flowing trail with occasionally somewhat technical sections. Very nice view, with Gaustad toppen in the south, Hardanger gjøkulen in the west, Hallingskarvet, Skarvheimen and Reineskarvet in a northerly direction. Hemsedalsfjella in the north-east. Fun part down to the tractor road which is grassy. The route follows another tractor road, down to RV 40. A short distance after you face the valley, the path splits in two, keep left where you enter a path with small logs. Stay on the path and skip the de-tour at Below the road, it will be more demanding and also fun! You can cycle to Bjerkeflåta via Rv40 or the west side road which is a gravel road (recommended) Show consideration for walkers and sheep! Note that there is a fence over the tractor road (see picture)

Albrecht Nestle rated Utsiktsrunde ok. The view was indeed overwhelming, almost throughout the entire tour. The uphill was quite tricky at few sections: lots of rocks which need good balance and pedaling Power. But the downhill was really strange in the beginning. We’ve been searching the track down from the highest point for 20 min - but there was non. I checked all online maps I found. Nothing. No signs, no path...only one single lonely tire track through the open landscape where the track should be. So obviously, someone else must have tried this the same day or few days earlier. So we followed this line and after maybe 600-800 m, we found finally a narrow path which was leading to the tractor road. The last downhill was fun again. So either there never was a path - or it didn’t exist anymore?1.aug.2020
