Svartufs - Vårås
Description
Technical trail on an old tractor trailer from Svartufs down to Vårås by Årlifossveien.
The first 300 meters are tractor-towed towards a logging site. Relatively easy to cycle, but there are quite a few twigs left from the felling. Just before the latest felling party, there is a rather wet bog. Towards the end of the marsh, there is a large fallen tree that lies along the marsh. Here it is 75 degrees to the left just after the tree. The path/tractor trailer is difficult to see, but it then goes straight ahead for about 100 m, then turns slightly to the left for the next 100 m. Then you enter the tractor trailer again.
It can be a bit difficult to find the path past the two houses on the old stilt you come to. It goes straight on the left side of both buildings. After this, there will be a clear tractor trail with partly very good path, and some overgrown path (grass).
The descent can be demanding - mostly because of grass that grows high and covers the ground.
The surface can vary from fine and good floating paths, to old logs, branches, stones, streambeds and mountains that are hidden by the grass.
Therefore, the trail is best cycled before June 1 and after mid-September - when the grass is much lower. Then the path is fun, but demanding.
