Urundberget - Tuftelia

Geilo, Hol, Buskerud, Norway
1.3km|10m ◢ ◣ 212m|18.08.2015

The trail starts with narrow singletrack along a ridge, with open mountain terrain and airy views of the Ustedalsfjord. There is little treading, and the path is mostly downhill. Below the tree line there are nice natural dosages, some technical rock sections and a couple of hairpin bends. The path eventually meets the Tuftelia path, which ends with a rather steep tractor road. Be aware of hikers on their way up at weekends, as there is dense forest with poor visibility.

Return to the center of Geilo via RV7 (5km, mostly downhill) or on the gravel road along Ustedalsfjorden.

NOT recommended after heavy rainfall (mud section after approx. 500m).

Pay attention to the fence/Bergensbanen at the bottom!!

Take RV7 at the exit to Bardøla Høyfjellshotell. Follow the road further upwards towards Prestholt (toll road). Take the path to Urundberget (signposted approx. 200m after Skarvrandhytta). The path is marked with a sign and arrow to the right approx. 400m before the viewpoint.

Antti Ollila rated Urundberget - Tuftelia good. I´m not the best one in steep rocky downhills. For me there was quite many parts on the trail where I just had to push the bike. If you like steep downhills this is better one than Tuftelia. In my opinion you get better bike trip if you just bike just a little bit longer and take Tuftelia down instead of this trail2.jul.2017
