A little gem of a path that runs along the river Eima at the edge of the Hallingskarvet National Park.
The trail starts as a classic high mountain trail, with open singletrack, fast rock sections and a couple of fun stream crossings. Be sure to stop and enjoy the view at Høgfossen and the other waterfalls on the way down. Further down towards the tree line, there are nice natural dosages, some technical parts and nice nice flow. The path gradually transitions to a rather steep tractor road, and the bends here are washed out and loose. Return to the center of Geilo via RV7 (5km, mostly downhill) or on the gravel road along Ustedalsfjorden.
NOT recommended after a lot of rainfall (some bogs between 1200-1000 m above sea level).
Be aware of the fence/Bergensbanen at the bottom of the last descent!!
Feel free to bring a saw and help clear the bushes along the marsh areas at the very top. It's getting very overgrown.
Take RV7 at the exit to Bardøla Høyfjellshotell. Follow the road further upwards towards Prestholt (toll road). The path starts approx. 900m after Skarvrandhytta, on the left. The path is marked.
