Skaraåsen rundt
Description
This is a great round trip that takes you through pine needle paths in the forest and beautiful mountain trails through some of the finest areas on Skaraåsen.
Cycle up the gravel road towards Fagerdalen. When you reach Tjernset after about 5 minutes there is a trail sign to the right. Follow this path up to Fagerdalen.
From Fagerdalen, turn left onto a path (a little hard to see), then follow it straight ahead for a few kilometers until you come to a gravel road. Turn right and follow the gravel road to the end into Feten.
Go over the fence where you will find the path. Turn left and follow the path, straight ahead at the first intersection. After a few kilometers you will come to a cabin on the left. Cross the access road and follow the path until you reach Habbeset.
At Habbeset, follow the gravel road for a couple of hundred meters, straight ahead at the intersection. The path then continues down to the right and will take you over a marsh area, before taking you over a couple of peaks with a dry mountain path. You then have a super nice mountain path to Ronestølen. There you turn left and follow the path up a ridge between the heather.
After the ridge, the path takes a sharp right turn and then a sharp left turn. Follow the path until you come down to the intersection again, and then turn right and back to Feten where you just continue over a ridge.
After the ridge, cross a stream, keep right and follow the path down back to Fagerdalen.
From Fagerdalen, take the path to the right, the one you cycled on when you started the round, but instead of going straight ahead, you take a sharp left about 50 meters in. After a small bog hole (you cross the ski trail) you have a lovely floating path down to Skjennhovdstølen. Continue straight ahead. After crossing a small stream and up a steep hill, then take the right path at the top of the hill, by a tree. Here there is a super singletrack down through the forest and a logging field that takes you down to Flatagrov. Then take the gravel back up to the start.
Access
Take Skaraåsvegen up from Steinmoen, 40 meters east of where Tuppeskogvegen meets FV223 (Golreppen). Remember to bring 50 kroner for the barrier which you will find 200 meters after the intersection.
The road takes you up a series of hairpin bends. You then enter a plain after a gentle downhill, and a few hundred meters after you start uphill again the road heads inland towards Fagerdalen. There is a small parking area here.
