Description

Technical path with nice flowing sections into idyllic and wild Erdalen. From the parking lot in the heart of Erdalen, you follow the dirt road inwards, and onto the marked hiking trail. You should follow this path into the entire valley. The path passes a meadow. Follow the path on to Vetledalsseter, here the path splits in two. Turn right up towards Erdalsbreen.

The path crosses a river over a wooden bridge. Keep to the right after the bridge, the path is sometimes difficult to see here, but aim towards the glacier. When you reach an open ridge, the path follows the left side of the valley inwards towards the glacier.

Then the last climb starts. Some rocky, and mostly rocky parts. A lot of loose rock, so pushing a bike is easiest. You decide for yourself how far up you want to ride. We turned around after 5.5 kilometers into the valley. This is a natural stopping point. Putting the bikes down here and going further into the glacier on foot is recommended.

At the heart of the valley, it is appropriate to take a lunch break and enjoy the fantastic view over Erdalen before turning around and taking the same road back to the car. It descends evenly all the way, with many nice cruxes, and consistently with a high level of technical difficulty.

Access

To get to Erdalen, you drive approx. 30 minutes east from the center of Stryn. Before the tunnel at the end of Oppstrynsvatnet, turn right and into Erdalen.

Follow the road through a farm yard. Here you will come to a toll booth, remember to bring money. And close the gates behind you. A few hundred meters later you park the car.

Bjørn Jarle Kvande rated Erdalen very good.
