Stonecutter Mk.II

Description

This round offers three types of trail: Paths and cart tracks used in connection with stone cutting. Smooth single track trails. The key to a nice trip with a trail bike in Torsnes lies in line selection. Large parts of the route run on rocky ground and it can be difficult to see the exits from here, but there are always steps out and into the mountains and the experience gets better when you have learned where they go. In some places, the boulders can present challenges that may seem unattainable until you have found an optimal line. This may require repeated visits and memorization of line selections before everything is in place.

The first edition of Stonecutter went closer to Øgården, but two logging fields and a paintball fort have blurred the lines, and it will require greater effort to re-establish the paths over the logging fields. I miss this one, because it has some epic stretches where you almost balanced on the edge of many quarries.

This version follows a route that has been ridden by locals ever since, with less of the industrial feel of the first variant. Also a fantastically fun trail to ride.

Access

By car, it is best to park at Torsnes church. From Fredrikstad: Rv. 110 towards Svinesund, Rv. 111 towards Øra, Rv. 107 to Torsnes. By bike, you can start from Kile Vestre if you come from Humlekjær or Bevø. Then you start with the least technical.
