Weing steep but technically demanding trail.
The Achtermannshöhe offers a great view over the Harz mountains, such as the highest peak, the Brocken. From here the trail is flat, with many embedded rocks and roots north. The trail is wide and a forward-looking driving style helps to find the right line. With an active riding style you can find a nice rhythm to keep the momentum going.
Wide carpets of roots and wooden walkways await you along the lake. The trail is generally flat, slightly uphill and downhill. Again and again, stones and narrow bridges require a precise riding style and good bike control.

Bjørn Jarle Kvande rated Achtermannshöhe good. I might not have been in the best of bike forms, but I started to hate the rocks and roots of this trail. Starts of with embedded rocks and quite flat so you really have to work to keep the speed up. After you cross the tarmac road you end up in root heaven or hell, depending on what you like. But all in all, we were all smiling in the end :)15.may.2017
