Harahorn - (Rusto) Hulbak Fjellcamp

Description

Great 2 hour varying demanding high mountain trail in Enduro quality.

Starts from the car park between Harahorn and Vavatn and ends on asphalt roads above Hulbak.

~10 minutes from there to Sentrum and Tunet Sport in case you drove so hard that something more than the body needs to be repaired 😁

The path the gpx track follows is somewhat indistinct in the lot as long as it goes upwards in the direction of Harahorn top. But it is better than the very frequently used blue path that runs parallel ~150m further north.

After ~800m the path turns due south and continues on a traverse above the tree line along the south side of Harahorn and up to Kringletjerne.

From there down to Holsteinstølen, there is a chance for great speed, but a number of sections with sharp rocks. So it might be a good idea to take care to have more air in the tires than what is ideal until then. Full Enduro protection and notification to civilization about where you may be lying down is recommended if you intend to cycle as fast as possible.

From Holsteinstølen, the path continues due south through the Holsteinskaret and towards Hulbak.

After Hulba camping has been closed down, the landowner there has expressed a wish that the path down to Hulbak Camping (now unfortunately closed) is not used by cyclists. It is, of course, legal according to the Norwegian Act on the right of all persons to freedom of movement.

But the path down to Rusto, where the GPX track ends, is a better option anyway.

There is also a very nice landowner who has made arrangements for free parking for everyone going on a trip.

He also has beautiful cabins right next door that can be rented at a good price.

The garden west of the disused campsite sells delicious organic mountain potatoes at a good price.

Remember to pay attention to avoid unnecessary wear and tear! Close gates and show consideration for livestock and other users of the paths!!

Access

Cycle from the city centre, into grøndalen and up to Harahorn hotel/vavann. Before you get to the exit for the Harahorn hotel, there is a car park. A car can be used if you leave a car in the centre. Just north of the junction on rv52 there is also plenty of space for parking a car.
