Systerskarsrunden

Hemsedal, Hemsedal kommune, Buskerud, Norway
9.4km|604m ◢ ◣ 524m|20.08.2014

Description

Cycle or drive from the Center up Holdeskaret. About 1 km after the highest point, you can choose to cycle up Dokkstølen (you can cycle a little higher) or Fetjavollen (easier to walk straight on the path) Follow the path 300 m up to Systerskaret. About 50% cycling. At the top, you have a lovely path down, with two cruxes. Always use the highest/right version both at the top and down.

At the bottom, you cycle all the way to Driftehytta, here there is a short field where the path disappears, but it is still easy to pedal on. Continue cycling towards Ål on a narrow path, until you easily see the y-junction back again. Out of the valley you have a dream of a path, which increases with the path when it starts to go down. You connect with the Tottenrunden and get the same wonderful ending

Down on Skyrvedalsveien, follow to the first 90* bend and hard left after approx. 200 meters on a regrown tractor path. Follow the path down and suddenly you are in the valley again. Happy and tired!

Access

Hemsedal center and drive up Holdeskarsveien in Hemsedal Skisenter. About 1 km from the top, park in one of the large car parks by the side roads on the left

Rolf Eriksen rated Systerskarsrunden good. I liked both decents on this trail, but the part from bottom of Systerskardet to Drifterhytta was not that pleasant. I was lucky that I rode in a really dry summer, but still it was not the most fun. The exit from Drifterhytta to where the path steepens down in the walley starts OK with a narrow singletrack, until a long section with rocks where speed is needed, but hard to maintain. The down to walley is fun, steep and rocky, given you like "teknisk knot", and this is the part where the "RED" in the description is for5.aug.2018
