Rad Dad

Description

A both natural and man made trail with rockgardens, steep chutes and hand dug traverses and berms/switchbacks. As well as some high speed sections on old horsepath.

The trail was cleared/built as a shortcut from haugsvarden to the trail centre and might be a just slightly easier alternative to the original trail. (Although in much steeper terrain.)

From the Tystadstøylen parking lot the trail starts on the downside of the road and dives into a steep section with loose rocks and gravel until you get to the end of a logging road. Follow the road for 50m before you see the trail on your right by a small cairn. A new steep and sometimes slippery section follows before you get to where Rad Dad takes off into a dark pineforest on the right. Use the berm to pick up speed for a 200m climb until you get to a viewpoint, and the downhill starts. The surface of the man made trail is fairly smooth with intermediate gradient, but it is built as narrow trail, traversing very steep terrain. So mind your speed and watch out for inside pedalstrikes.

The trail ends when you cross the Dimma-trail. Go straight downhill for a super highspeed trail to the trailcentre, go right and cross the creek to ride up(and down) the best part of the Dimma-trail or go left for a high speed traversing trail to the E39 highway.

Access

Follow the road (Ytre Fjellbygda) up to the parking at Tystadstøylen/Skårstøylen.

NOTE: Remember to pay the fee at the tollroad/gate on the way.

Parking lot might be overfilled during weekends with sunny weather.
