Forgotten trail (Hardbarka Enduro SS)

Hemsedal, Hemsedal kommune, Viken, Norway
2.7km|6m ◢ ◣ 535m|20.08.2020

Description

One of Hemsedals hardest descents. allot of braking so good brakes and technic is important to enjoy this one.

The trail was finished to become a Special Stage in the legendary local Hardbarka Enduro competition. By far the hardest Enduro in Scandinavia.

The lower part are some old natural trails that have been cleared and reopened. The upper part have been build by some committed members in the local bike club.

The trail start at the top of the Roni ski lift. First part are some smooth "alpine" single track above the tree line. When you get closer to the tree line the trail gets tougher and rougher. The trail are sometimes pretty narrow and steep.

You soon reach a rock garden with a smaller drop in the end. After the rock garden you have some nice riding in the forest in head of you.

Roots, rocks, tight corners, wooden bridges and some small rock faces.

Note that the GPX follows the original tracks. And that there is an new short section looping out to bikers right about 2/3 down to avoid one of the most slippery parts of the original trail.

In the end of the trail you have the possibility to either go straight and drop off the jump or take the alternative "chicken line" to the right.

When you reach the small gravel road at the bottom you can either turn to the right to get back to the ski center or turn to the left to reach the tarmac road where you can continue with other trails as Rjukandefossen, Karisetberget or Spanske Stolen.

Forgotten Trail is a technical trail for experienced riders. Some parts can be hard to ride "blind" the first time but in the same way it's always possible to jump of your bike and walk pass the sections you don't want to ride.

Many sections wil be wet and slippery when wet. So rideing when its dry is adviced at least the first time.

Either you can go up the first chairlift if its running and ride down the gravel road and travers out left to Roni chair lift. Or you start from the bottom of the skicenter you start to follow the tarmac road up Holdeskarsvegen. After a little bit more than 3 km and 350 m of climbing you reach a tunnel. Just before the tunnel it's a smaller pretty steep gravel road on your right hand side. Follow this gravel road all the way to the top of Roniheisen/Roni ski lift.

From the bottom of the skicenter to the top of the Roni chair lift the total climb is almost about 600 m.

If you have two cars it's also possible to drive Holdeskarsvegen up and a little bit before you reach the tunnel it's a parking spot on the left side of the road.

It's not allowed to drive the last tracktor road up to the top off Roni chairlift. And its only possible to do with a proper 4x4 offroad vehicle anyway.
